Today I’m sharing two mini love stories that involve the darker side of dating.

You Made her Do the Dirty Work

I was nervous for our blind date, but you made me feel at ease. We met in college through my close friend, Emily. You called me on the phone to set up our second date. Everything seemed perfect. I had dreams about you. I had blind faith. I committed your words to memory so I could relive our conversations over and over again. You invited me to your house for pizza and a movie: our third date. I bought a new purple shirt and straightened my hair. You were my first ever kiss that night. I called Emily on my way home and told her I really liked you.

But then, you started distancing yourself. You stopped responding to my texts.

You made her do the dirty work; she told me a few days later that you wanted to date each other, that you had told her of your feelings before you even met me. I felt I lost you and, more significantly, one of my best friends that day.

Why did you go on that first date with me?

Getting Handsy in the Uber

You spoke of your home in Chile.
I watched your lips move smoothly around Spanish words.
We drank flights of wine at the tasting room.

You called us a rideshare.
I left my car parked.
We were both tipsy.

You got handsy before we arrived at your house.
I felt uncomfortable and chose to go home.
We never spoke again.
